Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

I just had my first colonoscopy today and I had to write a review of my experience because it was absolutely great! I was so nervous and had a very rough night doing the prep. When I arrived for my appointment I was early and they took brought me over to do all the initial check in stuff and they took me right back to get started. I went into the recovery room area and I was asked questions and then changed out of my clothes. A nurse came right in to get me hooked up to do my blood pressure and heart and did my IV. Then right after the anesthesiologist came in to talk to me and went over things and asked if I had any questions. Dr. Lukaszewski popped in to meet me and was very upbeat and personable! I hadn't seen her previously , I read through Google reviews and picked her to do the colonoscopy. I'm sooo glad I did, she has a great personality and made me feel a little better about having it done! I was then wheeled back to the room. They were all so helpful and made you feel very comfortable. I was taken in the room to have the procedure done and greeted by a nice man who introduced himself and made me very calm. Then in came a few others and they made sure I was comfortable. I can't even tell you how pleasant every single person was. Dr. Lukaszewski did the procedure in what felt like one second. I went right to sleep and was back in the recovery room in no time. I felt no discomfort after, just a little off balance which didn't last long. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to have your colonoscopy done. It literally runs like a well oiled machine! Everything flowed so well and I was very impressed with the cleanliness, friendliness and overall energy of the facility.

The doctor was befuddled by my questions. I had to ask him if he really wanted to answer them. His response to that is that I should’ve asked them before I came in for the procedure. His next response was to cancel it. I said, I just want to ask a couple procedural questions because I was hospitalized twice with the last medical procedure I had. I had already stated I had vasovagal issues probably from PTSD to the nurse. He reluctantly accepted the questions, which were not out of the ordinary. His impatience was noticeable. I stated that he had the worst bedside manner of any doctor I had ever encountered. Upon release, he made it a short statement and he will call me. Upon asking him follow up questions he made it clear. There was no time or effort available to respond. Asking about the continuation of acid reflux meds, he said “you made a bad decision to not have the evaluation,” In a condescending tone. He then walked away. If I had to read Dr. on the bedside manner and as a trusted advisor, from 1 to 10 I would give him a zero. He is ill-equipped to mentally handle the challenge of patients. If I treated my clients like Dr. treats his patients, I would never have anyone deal with me. This was a terrible experience. I will never go here again.
