Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

Completed a colonoscopy today with Dr. Frank Kim. He was very kind and professional. The entire team was, especially so early in the morning. Shout out to nurse Lisa and Anesthetist “Jimmy” for making me feel welcome. I do have to say though, I miss the birds. Bring back the waiting room aviary! : )

As Dr Fusco says ‘ colonoscopy saved my life’. I was worried that the prep would make me so sick, but with prescribed nausea pills and utilizing the pill prep method, it was not bad at all. Yes, you do need to stay close to the bathroom when prepping, but full prep stats at 6pm the day before. If you follow the prep instructions provided, it is not a bad experience. Everything went smoothly the day of the colonoscopy. The team at Three Rivers really takes care of you and you feel safe.

My entire family see Three Rivers Endoscopy. Between all of us, we all have had either upper and lower GI's or both. All the physicians we have seen over the past many years have been wonderful to work with. They all are professional, very knowledgeable, friendly and explain your results and follow up care with you including photographs of your procedure. I have had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Fusco for my procedures. The staff is great. They are friendly, caring, courteous, professional and explain everything to you before-hand and as it is happening. They are always on time. The prep is easy to follow. I would highly recommend and have recommended Three Rivers Endoscopy. You guys are great.

Our whole family goes there a like most of the docs. Mahoney and Fusco are fantastic. Very knowledgeable and understanding. However hate when we have to deal with his nurse on the phone. I don’t think she actually asks them questions and her response for the simplest things is always come into the office. If you didn’t sometimes have to wait months to get in maybe we would not mind. She doesn’t seem to have compassion for patients so dread calling.

I just had my third colonoscopy here and wanted to leave a positive Google review. The staff and doctors are really great here. It is a very pleasant environment - so much nicer than going to a hospital. I appreciate the nice touch of using heated blankets - you really feel cared for here! I also appreciate that the doctor explained what he saw and gave me photos from my exam for me to understand the results. The whole process was very efficient and happened on schedule and we were in and out of there in under two hours. Highly recommended!
