I say this a million times.. on of the most unprofessional things you can do at any doctors office is give an appointment for let's say 7am then dont see you til 11:30 is not worth it. No only do they give you a general time but they give everyone that same time.. making this a first come first serve business.. that tells me that they care more about your money than the patients or their time... no thank you. Ill find another place to go to. One that doesnt leave me waiting cold and hungry for 4 hours..
Extremely disorganized. They gave us an appointment and we were seen three hours later just for paperwork. There were patients waiting for help and no room to sit down. When we asked for an estimated time (even if it was a long wait), they just told us to wait another two to four hours. One nurse in particular, from the triage area, was incredibly rude. Anyway, I'll be looking for another clinic for my other eye.
My doctor said I needed to be there between 7:30 to 10:30 for pre op. Got there about 9:30 and I was given #179. They were called #130 when I got there. There were 4-5 people doing pre op but it took forever over 4 hours to be done. Not to mention it is freezing cold inside. You can’t see the board to know where you are in line from outside. There are no chairs or benches outside for people to wait so you see elderly people sitting on the curb. For such a beautiful modern facility it was clearly not designed by anyone who thinks about who this clinic was built to serve. The old faculty was quicker & more organized in my opinion. I had surgery there during COVID & it was much simpler.
This location is newly opened and remodeled. They have valet parking sometimes and a big self-park parking lot in front. Their waiting area is HUGE. It kind of feels like being in an ER due to the amount of people waiting and the amount of reception windows, so be prepared for that. They have an electronic board with the ticket numbers that they are calling/assisting, which makes it better to know when you’re being called, since it can get pretty noisy. They require masks at all times. However, the wait is exasperating. You’re assisted in a series of steps: First you’re called to fill out forms; then you’re called to go inside, at which point you wait in yet another, albeit smaller, waiting room. Then you’re preliminarily evaluated before finally waiting a third time for your actual doctor to see you. It’s all very organized, but very time consuming. Prepare to set apart half a day for your visit in this place. Less than ideal but, sadly, a normal issue in PR. Oh, and bring a thick jacket with you! They put their air conditioner VERY cold. I know it’s hot outside, but it gets ridiculously cold like finger-stiffing-cold. Add to that the fact that they don’t have a no-phones policy in place, so you’re listening to everyone else’s conversations ON SPEAKER, mind you, plus people texting with the excruciatingly annoying typewriter sounds at high volume, and you’re in for a real treat. 🥴 To the administration: Place strict no-phone policy in waiting areas. Strictly use the phone to read, people! Or go outside.
An ophthalmic surgery center, where nearly 90% of the patients are elderly with vision problems, forces patients to watch a television to see if it's their turn. If someone doesn't respond quickly, the staff gets annoyed and starts mistreating the patient for not rushing to them. Not to mention that after surgery, the staff starts spewing memorized speeches at patients who have just come out of anesthesia, and then they have them sign documents stating they were properly informed. If a family member asks for more information about post-operative care, they get annoyed and leave without saying a word. These people aren't there for the patients, but to bill Medicare. They provide worse service than a fast-food restaurant. The most serious problem is that they have a monopoly, along with the Metropolitan Eye Center... which also provides the same terrible treatment to patients.
