Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Tonsillectomy / AdenoidectomyThe tonsils and sometimes the adenoids are removed for repeated infections or sleep-disordered breathing. Recovery is notably harder for adults than children, with significant throat pain for a week or more and a real emphasis on staying hydrated.Ear Tube PlacementTiny tubes are placed through the eardrum to drain fluid and ventilate the middle ear, most often for children with recurrent ear infections. The procedure takes about 10 minutes and the tubes usually fall out on their own within a year.Sinus Surgery (FESS)A camera and instruments passed through the nostrils open blocked sinus drainage pathways, with no external incisions. Considered for chronic sinusitis that has not improved with medication. Congestion often worsens briefly before it improves.SeptoplastyThe wall of cartilage and bone between the nostrils is straightened to improve airflow through a blocked side. It addresses breathing rather than external appearance, though it is sometimes combined with cosmetic reshaping.Turbinate ReductionSwollen tissue inside the nose is shrunk to improve airflow, frequently at the same time as septoplasty. Often the difference between a nose that is structurally straight and one that actually feels open.LaryngoscopyA scope examines the voice box and vocal cords, used for persistent hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, or throat pain that has not resolved. Small lesions can sometimes be biopsied or removed during the same procedure.

Our family had a wonderful experience with Surgery Center of RI for our son. Pediatric surgery is naturally an anxiety-inducing procedure, but every staff member was supportive and empathetic before and after our experience. The facility is clean, check-in was a breeze, and the discharge information was clearly explained.

Absolutely beyond exceptional! My daughter had her adenoids removed here, and from the moment we walked in, every single person made us feel safe, comforted, and cared for. The receptionist, the doctor, and every nurse we met were truly amazing—so kind, patient, and understanding. The entire place was spotless clean, and the level of attentiveness was something I’ll never forget. As a mother experiencing my child’s first surgery, I was terrified, but they supported me every step of the way and treated my daughter with such gentle care. I would recommend this surgery center to anyone with children or anyone in general. The staff here is outstanding and every one of them deserves a raise. Thank you for making such a scary day feel manageable and for taking such good care of my baby.

Yesterday my 5-year-old son had his tonsils and adenoids removed. At first, as a mother, I was very afraid of whether I was making the right decision since my son gets sick more than five times a year. But honestly, from the moment I walked in, I felt confident with all the staff, and everything was super fast. My son woke up confused, but Nurse Lisa was amazing and had so much patience with him. It was the best thing that could have happened to us. If you are going through something similar, I hope my comment helps you decide — I 100% recommend this place.

The level of care at the facility was adequate. My issue is with the billing department. After a minor procedure, I received a large bill without any detail, so I called and left a voicemail asking for an itemized bill. No call back so I didn’t pay the bill. Second notice - same thing. I received a final notice in the mail on 5/23 with a due date of 5/25, and a threat of going to collections. Left a voicemail immediately. No call back. Because of this, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Anywhere that won’t call patients back nor provide an itemized bill should be a red flag.

I was so scared to be having my very first surgery, and first time being put under anesthesia. But the staff at the surgery center were amazing! Reception was great. A smiling face and some jokes. And was very accommodating to my mother and husband. The intake nurse Jennifer, was nothing short of amazing! She explained everything to me in detail, and kept the conversation going, which kept my anxiety down. The anesthesiologist was super nice as well. From what I remember in recovery, the nurses there were great too. Sorry I really don't remember you though. Lol. Over all, a pleasant experience all around. Thank you! Very clean and very professional.
