Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

Ladies at the registration/checkout desks were cordial and treated me with kindness. Wait was short before initial services began. All staff were knowledgeable, prompt and attentive. Eye examiners were patient and precise. Dr. Vasuki was thoughtful, thorough, and meticulous in his final exam and explanation/discussion of his findings. He is an awesome eye surgeon and I would refer others to CCFS for the best eyecare services.

MY Cataract Surgery and the follow-up visits went well. I had both eyes corrected by Dr. Seltzer. He did a great job! With the new lenses my vision is much better! The surgical nurses, Lab techs and the receptionist were all very polite and caring. They answered my questions well. I followed-up with Dr. Mc Phaill, the Optometrist after both surgeries. He was very friendly and gave good advice about caring for my eyes. Today he told me that my eyes are healed and gave me suggestions about glasses. I will now use reading glasses, in place of prescription glasses. I have chosen to use prescription sun glasses for my driving glasses. They will also help my night driving, he thinks! I was very pleased with my recent surgical experiences at Carolinas Center for Sight. The on-call Dr., Dr. Alexander was also very helpful when I called before leaving town, on Thanksgiving Day! I have been pleased with my two surgical experiences here! I do not have to have driving glasses, but I have. chosen to have prescription sunglasses.

Referred by the VA, waited 40 minutes past appointment time and still had folks in front of me to be seen by the same doctor. Not sure how the DRs are since I had to leave but timeliness is not a priority here. (Response to owner comment) this is a cookie cutter response you give to all negative feedback. If you truly cared you’d fixed your timeliness issue but every negative response here relates to extreme wait times and scheduling issues. Your establishment deserves negatives stars.

I was a walk in patient on a busy Friday morning due to a possible emergency situation. The young ladies at reception had me back in approx an hour doing a full work up. In less than 2 hours I was walking out the door. Everyone here, from the receptionist to the doctors were extremely kind, patient, efficient, polite and professional. They acted like they were glad I was there. I will always us Carolinas Centers For Sight for all my eye medical care and maintenance and I would encourage you to do the same.
