Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

Fantastic staff! The nurse went out of her way to help get me a prescription that my insurance wouldn't cover. I now get it free due to her research and care.

Dr. Levine is a gem! He is so thorough and pays attention to the patient and spends as much time as necessary listening to the patient. He is professional but also laid back and made me feel like I could be candid with him. Excellent doctor with a charming bedside manner. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars!

I'm a veteran seen at Mountain Home. My G.I. Dr. ordered EGD-BRAVO STUDY which was authorized & all necessary paperwork was sent to the Endoscopy Center. 1st off, scheduled in April 9th to discuss EGD-BRAVO Study. Was given paperwork to fill out for colonoscopy, BIG DIFFERENCE. Clerks had entered incorrect procedure. I discussed camera being attached to my stomach with NP. She said camera is so small, I wouldn't even see it when it dropped off. EGD completed May 1st, NO BRAVO STUDY. Spoke to the clinical manager today. Admitted they did receive all necessary paperwork with authorization. Apologized & admitted they do not have the machine to complete the study. So, instead of letting the V.A. know that, they proceeded doing an unnecessary regular EGD that I had had not long ago. A very serious mistake on their part. AND I'm sure they'll bill my insurance & get paid.

I suffered a bad experience while under sedation having a colonoscopy in Jan 2024. The staff just rushed me out and did not even address the fact that I apparently aspirated on stomach acid and had difficulty breathing and a raw throat! Dr Fish said a nurse would call and check on me the next day! One did call late afternoon the next day and I explained my symptoms again.. I got a call back saying an antibiotic had been called in to my pharmacy. So the next day I began taking the 5 day prescription… my symptoms did improve…. But a couple of weeks later I ended up with full blown pneumonia in both lungs!! I will not go back to this facility ever. Their lack of care and concern is inexcusable.
