Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

I like the actual team members I worked with, and my interactions in the office were pleasant, but after a month I still can’t get information about my lab work or the scan that was supposed to be scheduled. It seems like there are communication problems among the care team/staff, like they’re not on the same page. I want to be sympathetic to possible system changes, etc, but I’m also in pain and need answers. I will say that I also felt I was not properly prepared for one procedure by my doctor. I was supposed to change my diet prior to it, which was not mentioned in our initial meeting or in the papers I was given. I happened to research the procedure on my own and had to reschedule it for later out so I could prepare for it correctly. I might end up needing to transfer care to another center.

The initial visit went very well. Discussion with Dr. Royer was a plan of action. I was sent for additional tests and they were to get a procedure report. I have yet to receive doctor feedback, follow up, etc. after 10 months. Nothing on the patient portal but one test. When I inquired I was told the blood work needed to be repeated and the doctor had not reviewed. Guess that was a day wasted!

Dr. Little is a great doctor with a wonderful bedside manner. I've seen him numerous times & have had 3 procedures done by him. He's always been very patient & takes time to listen & answer all my questions. I've never felt rushed with him. My mother sees him also & has said the same thing. I would definitely recommend him to all my friends & family. I think he deserves more than 5 stars.

My visit was a pleasant one where I felt heard and important. My conversation with the doctor was both informative and helpful. It was nice not to feel like I was being pushed through a revolving door but that she was interested in my situation and wanted to do her best to help. Greatly appreciated.
