Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

HysteroscopyA slim camera passed through the cervix examines the inside of the uterus, and can remove polyps or fibroids in the same visit. No abdominal incision is involved. Cramping for a day or two afterward is normal.LaparoscopyA camera and instruments are inserted through small abdominal incisions, allowing diagnosis and treatment without a large open incision. Used for endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and pelvic pain, with recovery measured in days rather than weeks.D&C (Dilation and Curettage)The cervix is dilated and the uterine lining removed, for heavy bleeding, after a miscarriage, or to obtain tissue for diagnosis. The procedure takes 10 to 15 minutes and most people return to normal activity within a day or two.Tubal LigationThe fallopian tubes are sealed, cut, or removed to provide permanent contraception. It should be considered irreversible — reversal is not reliably successful, so it is intended for people certain they do not want future pregnancy.Endometrial AblationThe uterine lining is destroyed to reduce or stop heavy menstrual bleeding, offering an alternative to hysterectomy. It is not a contraceptive, and it is only appropriate for those who have completed childbearing.Ovarian Cyst RemovalA persistent, enlarging, or painful ovarian cyst is removed, usually laparoscopically. Surgeons generally aim to remove the cyst while preserving the ovary itself, particularly for patients who may want future pregnancy.
Breast Augmentation / ReductionBreast size is increased by placing implants, or decreased by removing breast tissue and skin and repositioning the remaining tissue. Reduction is often performed to relieve back, neck, and shoulder pain caused by breast weight.RhinoplastySurgery that reshapes the nose by altering the bone and cartilage beneath the skin. It is performed to change appearance, to correct breathing problems caused by internal structure, or both. Swelling takes months to fully resolve.FaceliftLiposuctionFat is suctioned out from beneath the skin through small tubes called cannulas, reshaping a specific area such as the abdomen, flanks, or thighs. It targets localized deposits and is a contouring procedure rather than a method of weight loss.Wound ReconstructionRebuilds skin and underlying tissue where a wound is too large or too damaged to close directly. Surgeons move nearby tissue, or transfer skin and muscle from elsewhere on the body, to cover the defect. Often follows trauma, infection, or cancer removal.Skin GraftingHealthy skin is taken from one area of the body and transplanted to cover a wound or burn elsewhere. Both the graft site and the donor site need care, and the donor site is often the more uncomfortable of the two.

This was such a great experience. My husband went in for a procedure and every nurse/staff member we interacted with was so friendly and welcoming. Good customer service is becoming more and more rare so this was very refreshing.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE(S) Multiple bad experiences I had two appointments with Dr. Teeple. The first one he made me wait one hour in the little room until he graced me with his presence. The second appointment...1.5 hours. This man does not value your time. The people at the Amarillo Urology Surgical center are completely incompetent. My max out of pocket for in network is $2,500. Yet these jokers told me that to keep my appointment, I'm at $8,500. I told the girl that my max out of pocket was...and she argued with me and told me that I am wrong. Oh yeah, one more thing. When I scheduled the vasectomy consult, I was told that they charge $100 for the ability to hold the spot with the surgery center, but if I cancel I'll get the money refunded. Well, I cancelled the procedure when I got the aforementioned total, and now the people at Amarillo Urology are telling me that they will not refund my deposit. These people are into financial rape and will screw you out of every dollar they can.

A huge thank you goes out to Dr. Natalie Gaines and the exceptional staff at AUA whom we spent our day with yesterday. Dr. Gaines did a surgical procedure on my husband. His post surgical care was phenomenal. His nurses, Analaya, Adam, Kenny and a strawberry blonde lady that we did not get her name, went above and beyond to treat my husband and get us home with confidence that we could handle his healing safely at home. These people are to be commended for their compassion and care.

I am a older retired senior and had my first surgical experience at AUA. I didn't know what to expect and was stressed. Everyone was so professional, kind and helpful. All of my questions were pleasantly answered. The doctors, (I have Dr. Whilhem) nurses and staff are so nice and make you feel really comfortable. Later the next day I received a follow up call to check on how I was doing. I can truly say AUA is topnotch.

If I could give them 10 stars I would. My husband got his vasectomy here and then months later had to come in for another procedure. Both times the personal were outstanding! They explained everything so well, answered any questions we might have. Treated us marvelous! He has seen Dr. Ford, and Dr. Wilhem, both are absolutely great doctors definitely recommend them so much. Shout out to nurse Itzel that was so polite, respectful, and a ton of help. If you need to see a Urologist don't hesitate to come here!
