Took my brother for a 15 min procedure today. Appointment was for 9:30am and he was to arrive 30 min before, which we did. At 10:45 they sent a text saying he was going in for the procedure. Over AN HOUR late! When I asked the front desk about this, i was told that "the doctor always runs late when they have a lot of patients". So DON'T SCHEDULE SO MANY PATIENTS! Our time is valuable too!! I just don't understand why doctors think that this is okay. How are they not able to plan better??!! There are often consequences if we as patients are late...why are there none for the doctors?!
This facility will require you to prepaid a ridiculously high amount (way above your out of pocket maximum) or you would be turned away for any treatment. And they will not refund you with the overpaid amounts. Why? Because they don't mind to deal with the insurance anymore with the amount you prepaid, and don't care if it pass the filing deadline with the insurance company. If you are reading this before the planned surgery, beware because this is a repeated complain with this facility. And you are lucky, because if you end up in similar situation, try complaining to Baylor Scott & White Health or Baylor Surgicare, you won't even find this facility on their website. Because, believe it or not, this facility is actually owned by United Surgical Partners International, and somehow able to get the Baylor Scott & White brand by whatever arrangement they had under the table. But more likely, you are not that lucky, you are finding out all these similar complains after you got treatment and got overcharged (and probably with a bunch of surprise bills to follow on). Why? Because you are sent by the ambulance to doctors associated with this facility (e.g. Orthopedics & Sports Medicine next door), who will then sent you here (for sure). Why? Because United Surgical Partners International is an ambulance company. Isn't that surprising at all? They don't call this a trap, or a scam, they call this "strategic synergy" in business. Yes nothing against you, you are not robbed, this is just business. And FYI the parent company of United Surgical Partners International is a publicly traded company called Tenet Health. And thank you very much for creating shareholder value for Tenet Health.
Horrible. Been waiting 5 months for a refund of an overpayment. Have called over 30 times, and had my request for refund sent in writing. Even my insurance company sent a letter in my behalf asking to refund the extra money they charged me. They aren’t returning my calls, my messages and my next step is to contact the attorney generals office. This happened with two surgeries I had here. I cannot imagine the amount of credits and overpayments they are sitting on. They are thieves and I would literally go anywhere else. You will never see your money again. I will be pursing legal action. They have 30 days to return an overpayment according to Texas law. There will be a big audit coming your way -bridget a. Update : I actually had to file a complaint with HHSC to do an audit, and it was at this time that I actually received my refund back. Pretty sad I had to take that route to get what was mine after 6 months of unanswered calls and e-mails to the surgery center
Received a voicemail the day before surgery telling me when to arrive. Showed up the day of surgery paid my deductible and sat in the lobby. A nurse eventually came out and said oh didn’t you get the message? Your surgery time was pushed back two hours do you want to go home? Of course, nobody ever actually called me and the day of surgery was a bit of a fiasco in terms of timing. My claim to my insurance wasn’t submitted for 2 1/2 months and so I gave them money that should have gone to other providers. Getting response from the surgery center was painful. Was told to call the office manager and I left her a voicemail and never received a call back, I was told by my surgeon to just stop by and all anybody at the desk and say was oh I think I remember you, yeah, your refund has gone through one of the layers of approval. I didn’t take any approval to take my deductible, but not submit the claim
All the medical staff were excellent. No issues whatsoever. The billing/office management staff is very an entirely different matter altogether. From the moment my surgery was scheduled, I received phone calls and emails, over and over, stating that my procedure needed to be paid prior to surgery. I was told they couldn't submit to insurance, to determine my ACTUAL deductable, but their estimate of my obligation was several thousands over my max out of pocket. I paid them, up to the limit for my insurance, which ended up being $2600 over my co-pay. It has now been 6 weeks since my surgery and I am still waiting for a reimbursement of the overpayment. Funny how they are in such a hurry to have me pay for a procedure, but in no hurry whatsoever to give my own money back that they overcharged. I will never use this surgery center again! PERIOD! Now I will just sit here and wait for my reimbursement. Which brings up another thing. Why can't they just put it back on the card I paid with? Oh well. I guess that would be too easy and efficient. They wouldn't want that!
