Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

We really like the surgeon but this surgery center is horribly run. The first time we came here were were told to be here by 5 am. The employees don’t even report to work until 6!!!! Today we were told to be here at 10:40. The paperwork he was handed upon arrival said his surgery was to be at 12:45. We were assured that it would be much sooner. He was not taken back in until 1:01!!! Absolutely no respect for anyone’s time. The office staff was friendly but that does not make up for the complete lack of respect that this place has for the patients. This was supposed to be a 10 - 15 minute procedure. We were there for well over 3 hours. Supposedly this was an unusual event. But we’ve been here twice and were treated the same way both times. Never again….

I recently had cataract surgery here. The staff were very kind, helpful and professional. The surgery was performed by Dr. Steven Elieff. The surgery was flawless and very quick. I now have great vision. Thank you everyone for a great experience!

The surgery center never called us regarding pre-op information and time of surgery. We had to call the doctor and ask for the information after not receiving any notice. Our surgery time was originally scheduled for 9 AM. When we called our doctor, we were told that our surgery got moved up to 6:00 AM. They were as surprised as us that we hadn't received any information. Regardless, we really love our pre-op nurse lily and absolutely LOVED Dr. Shulkin and our anesthesiologist Dr. Judd. They have great bedside manners and truly care about their patients. I only wish that the receptionist was the same. She wasn't the kindest and often appeared annoyed at patients who asked questions.

The staff is amazing, very kind and professional. First good experience I've had with surgery since moving to Texas. Had one cataract removed on July 17th, the next eye is on July 31st. Dr. Motamarry is amazing and not bad to look at.

Absolutely the best place to have cataract surgery. The staff members are professional, friendly and efficient. I had both eyes done on two separate occasions and my wife had one eye done. All three times the staff exceeded my already high expectations. Dr. Snook has been my opthamologist for several years and he is a down to earth, easy to talk to person. Great guy!
