(Specifically for Oakmont location in SW Ft. Worth) Had a surgery this morning and every step of this process - both in the planning and execution - was 5-star quality. I have a medical/surgical background and am a director in a major medical center. Every single staff member was so impressive in their respective role that I found myself wondering, as a manager, how they achieve, across ALL staff, this level of dedication, technical competence, compassion, personable demeanor, attention to detail at EVERY step, and general excellence in patient care. However they achieved this - it is worth emulating. I saw a prior review with a billing complaint a couple years ago but I was very satisfied with the detailed level of billing. They asked me to bring in the receipt of what I paid at my physician’s office and made sure that had been applied toward my insurance deductible (since payments were in quick succession and they weren’t certain it was properly reflected in the system). I appreciated not having to hassle with sorting out a refund from insurance after the fact. They also were clear about the itemized billing for medical apparatuses they sent with me for use at home vs. procedure costs.
The staff was friendly, however, DO NOT trust their billing department. I insisted the claim be submitted before the surgery so my copay was accurate so there were no surprises. They said they did so, I paid my copay, had the surgery (which went exactly as planned), and months later received an additional bill, exactly what I warned them against. They did it anyway and attempted to blame my insurance, claiming they gave me an estimate. Nope, I wouldn't have went through with the surgery without numbers that were at least in the ballpark. The bill ended up being more than double what I paid up front. Use these people at your own risk.
I went with my grown son to have surgery and he got a call from his wife that thought she was miscarrying right before his surgery and I told them and they scrambled so fast to get my sons IV out and said just go be with her and we’ll call to reschedule. I was so incredibly impressed with their compassion. Their baby is fine. Hallelujah to Jesus Thank you all for getting us to the hospital so fast.
My mom had an appointment today for surgery. She received a call yesterday to get her registered. The person on the phone was asking my mom questions trying to identify her and my mom kept telling her they had the wrong patient pulled up. They was TELLING her she's been to their facility before and mom kept telling her she's NEVER been there. So this call went on for about 10 minutes and before the call ended, the lady asked my mom another question that the answer was still NO, THAT'S NOT HER! The clerk said she got everything straightened out. Today, when we got to the office, mom start filling out the paperwork and she notices they still gave her the wrong patient paperwork. The clerk act as if it was no big deal, just handed mom more paperwork with no name on them and told mom her how much she owes for her surgery. Mom pays the amount. They finally get mom back to pre op and start putting the bands on her arms. Come time to start IV's the nurse checks her bands and it has she's allergic to 4 or 5 different medications and my mom isn't allergic to anything we know of, they were still saying she's the other patient. I was concerned but they had her down for the correct surgery. That's a scary thing to have patients mixed up like that and the front desk is sure you're the patient. The patient they was mixing my mom up with is 79 yrs old, my mom is 66. This is a long review because I'm upset. How many times we have to tell you that you had the wrong patient pulled up. Same first and last name, maybe same birthdates but definitely different yrs since that patient was older. How many other patients have been wrongly identified? What if a different surgery was to be done on the patient they kept saying my mom was. Did they even charge my mom correctly, or did they charge by the other patients insurance? This was the worst check-in process we've ever experienced! Do something about the people working up front! Make sure they know how to identify patients with the same name and possibly DOB! Especially when the patient keep telling you, YOU HAVE THE WRONG PATIENT PULLED UP! My mom was a new patient to that clinic! Once we got to pre-op, they made up for the mess up front. Very nice doctors and nurses. From that point on everything went smoothly. Mom surgery went well and she's home resting.
I had surgery here in January 2022. I am VERY PLEASED with my experience. The nurses were all so nice. They made sure I was comfortable. I was very nervous about the procedure. And they did everything to calm me down. When it was time for me to change clothes. The clothes they provided were warmed. The blankets on the bed were warm. They even brought me more warm blankets. Every member that had something to do with my procedure came and talked to me. Told me what they were doing. And answered all my questions. They all made me feel so comfortable. I was amazed at how many people are with you the whole time. Making sure everything was done right. There was at least 7 people in the operating room when I came in. So I know I was being well watched. When I woke up. There was a heater fan of some kind in my blankets. It was so comfortable. I could have stayed there all day. They got me woke up and meds started. And helped me get dressed. Then I was on my way. Spending maybe a total of 4 hours or so there from check in to check out. They called to check on me the next day. I will send everyone I know here. If I ever have another surgery. I hope I can come here. VERY IMPRESSED.
