Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

Procedure list is based on CMS-reported specialty designations. Contact the facility to confirm specific procedures offered.

In my experience, the entire team of nurses, anesthesia, and front desk were very polite, efficient, friendly and professional. The waiting room and holding areas were very clean and well-kept. Dr Slade did his surgical work like a true professional even tho I slept thru all the excitement of my cataracts being corrected with new Vivity lenses by Dr Slade. I have no reservations about recommending this surgery center to my family and friends.

This facility is disgusting! Dirty furniture, walls, and floors! Gulf Coast Emergency Veterinary Hospital is clean, healthy environment, and smells fresh even with multiple animals waiting for surgery! This place smells old dirty and moldy! Not sure how I feel about letting my spouse having surgery here!

Overall experience was more than expected. All staff went out their way to make sure I was taken care of. My nerves got the best of me but they reassured me that everything was going to be okay that I was in best hands in houston. From check-in to check-out the doctors, nurses, & staff definitely did above and beyond. I want to thank the staff for making my life a lot better by correcting my vision.

The entire team at Summit Ambulatory Surgical was wonderful. The front desk check in procedure was welcoming and efficient. 5 stars to all the nurses especially Theresa Nguyen, whose expertise in IV insertion, compassion and knowledge helped me through anxious moments. My anesthesiologist was spot on providing calmness and comfort. Thank you to the entire team for a wonderful surgical experience.

TERRIBLE, UNCLEAN, UNKEMPT BUILDING. This building should NOT be used by anyone in the human health care industry!! The main waiting area in the front entrance is extremely noisy from the adjacent highway (about 100 feet away), wind and dust blows in under the revolving door gaskets and the "stair case" bathrooms are not tended to well at all. Long black hair and bits of toilet paper were all over the bathroom floor that STILL had not been cleaned from the last time I was there a week before. There are no hooks for hanging coats, purses or bags to keep them off the nasty bathroom floor and there is no baby changing station either. A huge long black hair "ball" was rolling around inside an interior surgical office reception area, a huge spill stain on the carpet by the reception desk, and a large window shade had not been replaced (one of the brackets is still there though...) that used to cover the extremely bright southern-facing window in a suite that does eye surgeries of all things! The doors coming in and out of the building and physician suites do not have electronic openers for those in wheelchairs or walkers either. There is no separate entry that delivery drivers can use. Lunch for the office personnel, and supplies deliveries all came in and out through the small physician's suite reception room area. I just can't understand why ANY physicians would continue to use this old, nasty, inadequately designed and poorly maintained facility. Some of the doctors who use this facility are outstanding, which is very confusing to me....don't they KNOW how poorly this building is being maintained?? Don't their STAFF care or complain? Just incredible!!
