Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

My son had surgery and the nurses were amazing. Even at 6am they were laughing with him, making jokes and keep the mood light. This was his first surgery so the detailed explanation of the process was awesome, even anesthesia did an awesome job. Most places you don't feel like a person just another surgery. Here at Christus you do. Highly recommend for anyone needing surgery.

I had a colonoscopy and all of the nurses and the anthesiologist ( Wayne ) were excellent !! They provided me with the best care possible. !! They were very nice , friendly, and they had a really good sense of humor. Dr Kepczyk performed my colonoscopy and he was very informative, caring and did a great job.

What a fantastic experience! My 6 year old went in and never having been on the parent side of surgery, I was nervous. However, every staff member was kind, explanatory, and able to talk with my child and I appropriately to put everyone at ease. Such a great place.

I had surgery here and from beginning to end, the whole experience was just unlike any I've ever had in a doctor/hospital setting. The front staff were genuinely kind. The nurses were extremely personable and worked efficiently. The anesthesiologist were also information and all encouraging. Dr. Lano did my surgery and he truly is the best. My recovery is going to be a lot easier than I thought just for the simple fact that this place is being run exactly as it should. Thank you for taking care of me everybody!

I have been to this facility 4 times now. Three times for procedures and once for surgery. This staff loves their jobs. Everyone that serviced me was happy, kind and caring. Your comfort is their main goal. Never have I felt so well taken care of. What a great team. From. Mrs. M. Long
