Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

My wife has been the recipient of two cataract surgeries at the Southwest Surgery Center during the past few weeks. Her care has been phenomenal. Dr. Richens and her staff have provided prompt, professional, high-quality services to my wife; and she has responded very well to the surgeries. She is seeing so much better now. A special “shout out” goes to Ellie, who has been the front desk receptionist and staff representative each day that my wile has undergone surgery. She is kind, positive, vivacious, and professional. I have observed her on the phone and with in-person customers / patients. She is the type of individual that makes one want to do business and/or receive care at the center and to pay— fully and promptly—whatever the care costs. She is a great “face of the center” and initial contact for a patient and those accompanying the patient. My wife assures me that the rest of the staff is likewise pleasant, skillful, and professional. I heartily recommend the center and its medical professionals and staff.

This place is the absolute best!! Dr. Robinson, Isabele (I believe that was her name) and Charlie did my sons surgery, I can not tell you how patient and kind all of them were. They answered all my questions, reassured me my son was in good hands the whole time, they made sure my son felt very calm and happy. As a parent it's always a little scary when your babies have to have surgery and not knowing what could happen, my self have had rude drs, and nurses but I felt very calm and confident my son was going to be in good hands. I want to thank you guys!! The front desk lady was very sweet and helpful too. Answered all my questions, had the best attitude ever, seemed to love her job and that's a good thing!! Keep rocking it!! Thank you all, you all are blessing, I truly appreciate you guys!

Not transparent in cost and the worst billing department ever. They are very high priced and really just an assembly line operation. Their operation looks great on the outside, however on the inside it's rotten. Be smart go some else shop around even if you have to drive a little further it's worth it in the end.
