I was vacationing on St. John and experienced a sudden onset of a huge floater in my eye and "flashing" lights. Everything I read online said it was an emergency and too get to a doctor immediately. Unfortunately it was MLK, Jr day and we couldn't get ahold of any office by phone. We took a chance and took the ferry over to St. Thomas. When we got there a very helpful man assisted us in getting a taxi to Plessen. Several people at the ferry station knew who Dr. Stewart was and assured us they had seen him that morning so they were open. We did not have an appointment but they recognized the seriousness of my situation and worked to get me seen asap. EVERYONE at the office was friendly and helpful! Especially Chantal (sp?). She explained everything about each test and really made me feel so much better. Dr. Stewart did more tests and assured me I was going to be fine. His extensive viewing of my eye and calm demeanor really helped me. I hope you never have an emergency issue like mine but if you do come here! And they were so kind and helpful to everyone who was there just for their regular appointments. I highly recommend this office!
Scheduled for wrong appt on second visit, other doctor discredited what original physician said in first appt. Scheduled for specialist (3 months) and specialist didn't come and wasn't called so showed up. Got there and was told I would see the original doctor. For what, to be told I need to see the specialist?
The staff and doctors are efficient, professional, and polite. The surgeons are good.....but what they don't tell you is that both live off island, only come once a month, maybe not every month. So, if you need cataract surgery, you get one eye done; then, instead of doing the second eye in the normal two to three weeks, it may be a month....or two.....or three. And, if there is a problem or complication.......just hang in there till next month.
I booked my appointment several days in advance. I show for my appointment twenty minutes early. I’m the third person in the office. My papers were filled out in advance of my appointment. I sat in the lobby and watched twelve people go in for there appointment. I asked the lady behind the desk about my appointment time she said at 12:45 it was now 1:55. Still waiting for my appointment. She told me I was next then two others went before me again. This is the most unbelievable appointment in my life. I do not recommend this office to anyone at my job or anyone on the islands. If this is how people are treated stay away from here. The only professional person was Kayla.
The customer service was good and the medical professionals were very knowledgeable. The wait time is usually long. My appointment started 1.5 hours after the scheduled time.
