I do not recommend this practice based on my experience with an IUD insertion by Dr Owens. I had clearly discussed pain management in advance and was told medication would be provided, and I arranged for transportation accordingly. I confirmed this plan 3 days before with a nurse. When I arrived, Dr Owen’s appeared unaware of our prior conversation. When I raised concerns, I was told, “Do you want to do this or not?” and was offered a hand warmer instead of appropriate pain control. The insertion was prolonged and extremely painful, and the casual conversation she made during the procedure felt dismissive of my distress. I have since changed practices and am receiving more respectful, attentive care elsewhere.

This is by far the top OBGYN practice in Virginia. All of the physicians/providers are amazing and they are very accommodating with scheduling. Imaging and seeing a physician the same day is incredible! I was surprised they were open and seeings patients after a the recent snow/ice storm. Highly recommend for the best gyn and OB care.

I am extremely frustrated with my most recent experience. My postpartum appointment has now been rescheduled four times. It was originally scheduled for Friday, January 23, but it was canceled and moved to Monday with no explanation. I was then scheduled for Monday at 9 AM, but received a call stating the office would be opening late due to weather, so my appointment was moved again to noon that same day. After driving 45 minutes to the office, I arrived to find that it was completely closed. I was never notified that the office would be closed. To make matters worse, I received a call the following day saying that I had “missed” my appointment. When I explained that I did show up and the office was closed, I did not appreciate the attitude I received from the person on the phone. I was then rescheduled yet again for the following week. This level of poor communication and repeated rescheduling is incredibly frustrating.

I wanted to write a review for Nurse Stacey who made me feel so cared for during a recent prenatal visit. I was having a NST done which is intimidating when you’re given one for the first time. She made me feel so at ease with her calming and kind words, made sure I was 100% comfortable, and even dimmed the lights. She checked in on me multiple times and ensured me everything was going good. I had some questions that she directly and thoroughly answered. She really stood out to me compared to some of the other interactions I’ve had there and felt she needed the recognition.

We moved to the area a little over a year ago and I’ve been trying to establish care. My NP who is part of Sentera referred me here because I’m in the throws of peri/menapause and need an IUD replaced. I drove 1 hours and15 mins. When I got there they needed my insurance card which I didn’t have, and I panicked when I couldn’t find it, which made finding it even that much harder. They looked me up in a database and couldn’t find me. I was surprised because I was referred by my NP and used my insurance for that visit. I was really flustered as multiple people were waiting, no cell service to look up info and became emotional when they told me I could pay $1300 to be seen, and she even said “maybe your insurance will pay some.” I even said can you hold the credit card and I’ll have the number by the end of the apt and they said no. I tried to call my family to get our ID and while I was still trying to get it, was then told I could no longer have a full appointment, which caused me to become more emotional. I was crying asking if they could ask the nurse if I could be seen for the full apt but as we kept talking about it they then said of it’s 4:26 and I don’t think she can see you. I was embarrassed, crying and there was zero compassion empathy or problem solving. I made the apt over 30 days prior and had to call the morning of to confirm, since I received zero reminders or any request to fill out paperwork ahead of time. I drove 3 hours round trip, cried the whole way home and still don’t have an apt. Ultimately I take responsibility for not having the number and in that moment when the clock was ticking and I got flustered, because I’m struggling with major symptoms which that’s one of them, hence the apt that I waited 30 days for to hopefully get some relief. I will never go back to this medical office where I felt dehumanized and merely an insurance ID number.
