I am writing to express my serious concerns about the care I received on December 5th during my bilateral foot surgery at your facility. While Dr. Nicholas and the staff member who checked me in (with purple and black hair) were professional and kind, several other aspects of my care were unacceptable and unprofessional. During pre-op, there were two nurses assisting me — one who was in training and another who stated she had 30 years of experience. The trainer was dismissive and unprofessional. She asked the trainee if she was going to “try” the IV, which is inappropriate terminology to use in front of a patient, especially to one with a medical background. Despite my clear instruction about which arm should be used, my preference was ignored. It took four attempts to successfully insert the IV, which is unusual since I am typically an easy stick. After the IV was finally placed (via ultrasound guidance), I was left alone for approximately 20 minutes, and that IV ultimately blew. My surgery was scheduled for noon, but I wasn’t taken back until after 1 p.m., and no one asked if I wanted my husband to see me beforehand. Post-surgery, there was further unprofessional behavior. The same nurse referred to my husband as “belligerent” when, in fact, he was understandably worried because he had not seen or received updates about me since 11 a.m. Finally, the travel nurse from Maryland who removed my IV made a completely inappropriate comment, stating, “You have new feet; your husband can make you an OnlyFans.” Such remarks are unacceptable in a medical setting. To make matters worse, I was given two left post-op shoes, and when I pointed this out, the staff responded, “You’ll be fine; it’s not like you can walk.” This entire experience left me disappointed and concerned about the quality of patient care and professionalism in your facility. I am requesting that my experience be formally reviewed and that appropriate actions are taken to ensure this doesn’t happen to other patients
Prior to my hip replacement surgery I had high anxiety. The moment I began the registration process, the anxiety began to diminish. By the time I was taken back for the pre-op preparation area, there was zero anxiety. I felt privileged to have Dr. Lambert for my surgeon, and having more than 100% trust in him. My assigned RN Nichole was awesome, professional and and answered my questions in great detail. The anesthesiologist and doctor who administered my spinal were both professional and paid great attention to detail. I couldn't be any happier with my experience today. I highly recommend Bon Secours' surgery center more than 100% Thank you all so much for giving me the best opportunity to start a new lifestyle!!!!!
Great place and staff! Especially Dr. Gibson and RN Sarah. She was so sweet and very helpful. My mom has had 4 joints replaced and they made this one seem the easiest by far.
I recently visited a medical center for a scheduled injection appointment, and unfortunately, the experience left me feeling concerned about the organization of the facility. I arrived on time with a 5:45 am check-in for a 7:00 am appointment. At 6:15 am I was taken to prepare for my injection. The nurse and anesthesiologist who attended to me were both professional and knowledgeable, and I was ready to go by 6:40 am. However, the wait soon became much longer than anticipated. The anesthesiologist stopped by at 7:30 am to inform me that another patient had been accidentally taken ahead of me, but I was reassured that I would still be seen next. Unfortunately, at 7:45 am, the same anesthesiologist returned to apologize that yet another patient had been mistakenly taken instead of me. Feeling worried about the center's organization, I made the decision to leave the facility around 7:50 am. When I went to the front desk to request a refund of my co-payment, the clerk who had checked me in expressed shock and apologized, acknowledging that I had been scheduled to be the first patient of the day. While I appreciated the kindness of many of the workers at the center, the disorganization that resulted in multiple mistakes in the scheduling of patients left me feeling uncomfortable and unsure about the quality of care I would receive.
What a wonderful experience! All of the nurses were so kind and patient, even at 6 in the morning! Marianna and Juliet were so friendly, and so were the nurses from the OR team and anesthesiologist! They even took the time to sign a card for my speedy recovery! Very grateful to have been around such a positive group of people before and after surgery by Dr. Dobratz, a humble and skilled surgeon.
