Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

Terrible follow up from his office. I have a detached retina, my family dr. wanted me to get checked asap. Called Dr. Ehlers office for an appointment, made sure they knew the urgency, called my doctor to assure they had faxed the info to Dr. Ehlers office. I was assured by Dr. Ehlers office that they would get back to me asap. Called again the next day, they again promised that they would call me right back, that was a week ago...still no call or message. I guess just not a big enough money maker for his practice.

WOW....painless, quick recovery, professional and like I said WOW, I've worn glasses since I was 8 years old and to my memory, never have I've seen so well. I've wore glasses mostly and contacts for 5 of those years... I'm an avid photographer and how great it is to have my vision to see the fine details... A huge thankfully to Dr Ehlers and Staff.

I had a great experience at Eye Center today. I felt very welcomed by the staff. Dr. Ehlers was amazing and I love how he showed great care regarding an issue I'm dealing with in my left eye. Everyone was kind and the eye center is beautiful, not to mention it's kid friendly, which is perfect since I have a little one :) The staff do a great job with customer service and with keeping the place looking real nice.

Actually Dr. Ben Jaramillo and Dr Ehler are great, his accounting staff on the other hand are rude. So I agree with the other review. But I still go there for the doctor. They kept telling me that I owe them money, I said that they need to bill the insurance. I called the insurance and they said they never seen the paper work. But they refuse to re bill even after I told them that I have talked to the insurance company. So finally I went to the office and just got mad at the person for yelling at me at the phone. They are truly horrible.

Worst office staff ever. Rude and aggressive. My wife was dying of cancer and they called to threaten me with collection. I told them I was concerned but I was taking care of my wife, and I would get in as soon as I could. They didn’t care. Now they will never get a dime, and I will tell everyone to go to figs eye clinic where the office staff treats you with dignity.
