Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

Their labs take around a week or more to get the results back and didn’t pick up on my problem. I had them also done at the VA which did. It’s difficult to get any help on questions with the exception of PJ who was absolutely wonderful. She is the only staff member that seemed to care. I was very anxious about what was going on with me. She is the only person that returned my calls and followed up to ease my anxiety. I could go on about my dissatisfaction with everything else but bottom line I would not recommend this place .

I’m so glad my procedure was done by Dr. Douglas Schwartz at the Arizona Endoscopy center, McDowell Rd. The staff was very pleasant and efficient. I was in and out within two hours, Dr Schwatz was at my bedside, gave me the results of the procedure . My proscription was called in the pharmacy which I was able to pick up on the way home. Two days later, the nurse follow up with a call to make sure I am OK. Thank you Dr Schwatz and all of the Arizona Endoscopy staffs.

I cannot say enough about this facility. Not only were they on time, but every nurse, anesthesiologist and person I encountered were just so pleasant & the best. Of course, Dr. MacCullom is why I drive from Cave Creek to come to this location as she is fantastic. No offense but, I hope I don't see you all for another 5 years!

I had to wait two extra hours beyond my original appointment time, but the extreme kindness of the entire staff far exceeded my expectations. All four individuals involved in my care demonstrated impeccable professionalism, warmth, and genuine courtesy throughout the visit. Despite the delay, the level of attention and respect I received made the experience very positive.⛑️

This is the best facility, efficient clean and organized. Every staff member was truly amazing! They were kind, efficient, helpful and put you at ease for something that we all dread. Glad Dr. Radhika Babaria uses this facility! Would recommend using the website to pre register since there is a lot. 😊
