Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

BE AWARE OF THIS FACILITY AND THEIR PROVIDERS!!!! I had a PREVENTATIVE COLONOSCOPY done here. My insurance covers 100% preventative care. But some how they managed to bill my insurance using different coding so it doesn't process it as such. I have received claim from; az west endoscopy, Dr. H Rodriguez-luna and summit anesthesia all whom work out of this facility and whom were involved in my procedure. I have spend numerous hours trying to have them correct this. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT!

My mom had an appointment for a colonoscopy. They did not emphasize or put in the informative email about the ride having to stay. They said they say it over the phone. Having a ride stay the whole 2-3 hours is NOT appropriate for verbatim. It needs to be in the email on the expectations of staying.

Working in the medical field I always have certain expectations for medical care and the facility. This office is one of the best I've been to. I had a colonoscopy procedure, which I was very apprehensive about, my procedure was done by Dr.Patel who is a great provider and I would highly recommend, Garrett was the anesthesiologist helping Dr.Patel and he was great! The staff also made me feel so comfortable being there, everyone is super welcoming and genuine, which I appreciate!! Olga was the RN that did my IV insertion and got me ready for my procedure and Jen was the RN I had for recovery and they were both wonderful very caring nurses!! The procedure itself was painless and recovery was mainly due to the sedation because you're very drowsy. Great experience highly recommend this facility!

Was greeted when I first walked in. Then had to register. It was quick. The staff member who registered me was pleasant. The staff who did the procedure was very caring. They took excellent care of me. Put my mind at ease. Dr Chanda made me feel relaxed and comfortable. Great experience!!!

I had such a wonderful experience here from check in to discharge. The staff was incredibly friendly, the nurse was knowledgeable and kind, and the entire procedure team (doctor, CRNA, anesthesiologist, etc) were incredible and put me at ease immediately. My procedure was quick, I was able to talk to my doctor almost immediately after becoming coherent in recovery. I felt comfortable, cared for, and attended to the entire time. I have nothing at all bad to say about my experience here. Very pleased and very impressed. Thank you AZ West Endoscopy!
