Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

ColonoscopyA flexible camera examines the full length of the colon to screen for cancer and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Done under sedation, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. The bowel prep the day before is the part most patients find hardest.Upper Endoscopy (EGD)A thin camera passed through the mouth examines the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. Used to investigate persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained bleeding, or abdominal pain. Usually takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation.Flexible SigmoidoscopyExamines the lower portion of the colon only, rather than its full length. Preparation is lighter than a full colonoscopy and sedation is sometimes unnecessary, but it cannot detect problems higher in the colon.Capsule EndoscopyYou swallow a vitamin-sized camera that photographs the small intestine as it passes through — a region that standard scopes cannot easily reach. There is no sedation and no recovery. The capsule passes naturally, and images are reviewed after the fact.ERCPCombines endoscopy and X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat blockages in the bile and pancreatic ducts, most often gallstones stuck in a duct. Unlike a routine endoscopy, it carries a meaningful risk of pancreatitis afterward, so it is used when treatment is likely rather than for screening alone.Hemorrhoid TreatmentShrinks or removes swollen veins in the rectum and anus using rubber band ligation, injection, or surgical removal depending on severity. Banding is quick and typically requires no anesthesia; surgical removal is more effective for advanced cases but recovery is noticeably more uncomfortable.

Dr. Scott Wardlaw and all the staff I dealt with on the day of my appointment were absolutely amazing. Dr. Wardlaw and staff seem to really care about their patients. The only reason I gave a 3 star review is because the billing office is rude. I was not given a cost estimate prior to services being rendered. I knew I had a deductible and assumed that they check that and have the courtesy and respect of their patients to let them know that their costs might be over $1000. When I spoke to Amy, the billing manager today she was incredibly rude and demeaning. She stated to me that they do not check benefits they only check if the insurance is active. I explained that I had no idea that I would be charged for 4 separate times, I would have never known that as I don't do their billing. Apparently that doesn't matter. It is the responsibility of the patient to know their benefits but it is the office's responsibility to inform the patient of estimated costs as the patient has absolutely no idea how the office bills or what the insurance allowable are.

The care that my husband received there was excellent and his doctor is the absolute best. Dr Kakahati is the most compassionate doctor and is very good at explaining to his patients any information on their procedure.

Dr. Backstedt and the entire staff at the Conway clinic made my colonoscopy a pleasant experience, and that's an unusual adjective to describe the process. Seriously, the atmosphere at the clinic was laid-back and peaceful. I was well taken care of with ready smiles and clear explanations of what was going to happen. The anaesthetist did her job well. I had no pain and felt nothing during the procedure. The doctor took time to explain the results and answer questions. I was quite satisfied and will most definitely keep my doctor and use the Conway clinic if the need should arise.
