Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy this morning. To the receptionists, nurses, anesthesiologist and Dr. Ross … thank you for making what is not such a fun procedure very pleasant. I walked in, was taken right away to give info. Waited 5 minutes to be called back. The nurse was fantastic. IV on the first try. As soon as she was done, they took me back. I think I was done ahead of schedule. Recovery crew great as well. Also, shout out to Roxann in the office for getting me scheduled quickly! Thank you. Hopefully I never need these tests again (prep is less than fun) but this is the only place I would recommend. Thank you!

Holly greeted me with a warm welcome. Chemise the nurse that assisted with my prep knows her stuff! She was very friendly and made me feel at ease. She has an awesome bedside manner and passion for what she does. To be honest, everyone that I had the pleasure of being helped by were awesome. The moral amongst all the employees were outstanding! They all really worked quite well with each other. Highly recommend this location for their compassion and professionalism with the patients.

Everything you may have heard about the exceptional care, doctors, and staff at Baptist Health Endoscopy is 100% true. From start to finish, the entire experience was amazing. Aylin greeted me at registration with the biggest smile at 6:30 a.m. (which alone deserves an award). Chinece in admissions made the intake process quick and easy, and even the IV insertion was smooth and stress free. In the procedure room, Tina, Chuck, Claire, and of course Dr. Schneider completely knocked it out of the park by calming my nerves and making me feel so comfortable and cared for. Once in recovery, Grace took wonderful care of me during the wake-up phase and made sure I was ready and comfortable before sending me on my way. So truly, do yourself a favor, run, don’t walk, to Baptist Health Endoscopy Center for all your GI procedure needs. Thank you, Baptist Endoscopy, for such a phenomenal experience!
