Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters โ€” a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

Everyone was so nice and friendly, as well as efficient. From the front staff to the techs in the back I felt like they were there for me. Dr. Millin was great too. I like how every patient was greeted before we were talen back for surgery.

I recently had cateract surgery at Bluegrass Surgery and Laser Center and was blown away with the care I received. Beth, up in the office, the pre-op nurses, Katelyn, Keely and Jen, Amber in anesthesia, Angel, my O.R. nurse and Amy, my discharge nurse were all rockstars! They were all very caring, and professional. They helped me to be comfortable and at ease during what would have otherwise been a very stressful time! And Dr. Millin did a fantastic job with the surgery. I am amazed at how pain free it has been and what a difference it has made in my vision!

They were able to get me scheduled quickly. The staff was very friendly and caring. The doctors are great, he explained everything before surgery and made me feel at ease during surgery since i was awake. The only downside was the deductible had to be paid at time of service they don't bill you.

This was my second visit to have cataract surgery and it was much better than the first. First visit I was aware of everything that was happening. I heard about the doctors vacation trip and then the nurses vacation activities. Hiking was big on the doctors. This visit I was completely out and remembered nothing. Much better experience.

Everyone working at the facility is soooooooo nice and understanding. He had both eyes done a week apart. The first time he was beyound nervous but medicine calmed him down. The actual surgery took less than 15 min. All questions were answered prior to his surgeries and Everyone so helpful. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this Eye center to every person I know that has any speciality needs. My sons recovery both times was exactly how they said and he had no complications for either eye. wonderful and life changing experience for my son.
