Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

I had an appointment at the 3130 Grand Concourse office and was seen by Dr, Josep. I felt she was very thorough and knowledgeable in her care. She answered every question I had concerning my condition and was very good in explaining to me what might be a cause for the symptoms I was having. She was very comforting and showed concern with what might be an issue, she resolved this by asking the opinion of a specialist in retinal diagnosis and treatment. He also assured me my condition was not to be concerned with at this time. Dr Josep scheduled a follow up visit to make sure I would not need further treatment and to further assess what I might need in the future. I was extremely satisfied with her care and her knowledge.

Although the service provided is excellent with the exception of the waiting time needs improvement. Unfortunately, my mother and I were stranded because our medical cap company stop service after 5:00 pm. We had to request from staff to arrange a return transportation. In addition, left without the prescriptions. Which were later text.

The wait was extremely long I waited three hours at the Park Avenue location. THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS, I had a car accident 9 months ago and sitting that amount of time made my back hurt to no end. I asked a few times when would I be seen and I was told I was next nope. Jez was kind, understanding, great listener, compassionate and professional. I was seen by a young lady (unfortunately I did not get her name nor did she bother to introduce herself) later after finally when it was to see Dr. Fromer. She was not professional and at one point I found it quite startling to see place an optical piece rather harshly on the table (those objects are costly and should be treated with care …just my opinion). I also found myself repeating information more than once her behavior put me on guard where I did not want to explain why I had not been there in over a year. Finally Dr. Fromer arrived and I was able to explain what I had been through but I also felt rushed to explain what was going on as I know Dr. Fromer. . But it was a great pleasure to have met Dr. Fromer I found him to be knowledgeable and informative and willing to help. I look forward to having Dr. Fromer as my eye doctor in a year but HOPEFULLY I don’t have to wait three hours again.

Per all reviews, I agreed with how good Dr. Fromer is. However, waiting time is too long. Front desk is not friendly. I understand that there were lots of patients. But in the end, regardless, customers/clients/patients bring money for practice.

It was super packed on a Monday when I took my mom for her appointment. There was definitely quite the wait, but it was worth it. All of her tests were done correctly without rushing and they took the specialists and technicians took the time to explain everything. Service is friendly and helpful, no complaints. Just have patience. Shoutout to Mark for being super kind and friendly!!
