Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Epidural Steroid InjectionsSteroid medication is injected near irritated spinal nerve roots to calm inflammation causing sciatica or arm pain. Often used to make physical therapy tolerable rather than as a standalone cure. There are limits on how frequently they can be repeated.Nerve Block InjectionsAnesthetic, sometimes with steroid, is injected around a specific nerve to interrupt pain signals. Used both to treat pain and to identify its source, since relief from a precisely placed block points to the nerve responsible.Radiofrequency AblationHeat generated by radio waves disables the small nerves carrying pain signals from an arthritic spinal joint. Relief commonly lasts six months to two years. Because the nerves regenerate over time, the procedure can be repeated.Spinal Cord StimulationA device delivers mild electrical pulses to the spinal cord to interrupt chronic pain signals before they reach the brain. A temporary trial period is done first, so you can judge the benefit before committing to a permanent implant.Joint InjectionsSteroid or lubricating medication is injected directly into an arthritic or inflamed joint. Image guidance is often used to confirm placement. Relief typically lasts weeks to months and can make physical therapy more productive.Trigger Point InjectionsA local anesthetic is injected into a taut, tender knot of muscle to break the spasm-and-pain cycle. The appointment takes minutes and you can usually return to normal activity the same day.

Dr.Brophy is the worst neurologist. I was injured in a work related injury at 45 years old. I went to him several times w multiple injuries per MRI. He refused to treat me. He told me I was getting old and I could just come to him with my personal insurance and he would fix me. (This is definitely not the opinion of the new neurologist). I would be afraid he would let me die with the lack of care he provided. I would never use him, nor suggest him to any other person. He definitely is a worker's comp doctor. How sad, as he certainly is not a patient advocate!

I called on a Monday to make an appointment. I've been having headaches that MAY be related to a wreck I had three months ago. I gave them a wealth of info and was told it would take a couple days to get the scan results of my wreck from the hospital ER and I was to call back in a couple days if I hadn't heard from them by then. Fine. I called back Wednesday and spoke to someone else. She said it can take time with car wrecks. I told her I'm not sure it was related to the wreck at all. I've got headaches. She asked if their was litigation pending. I told her NO that I had signed a waiver and cannot sue the other driver. I just want to see someone about my headaches. A third person called me on Friday and told me it is Semmes Murphy policy that they do not see patients that have been in car wrecks. HUH? Never mind that the prior employees never mentioned that small detail and it is mentioned nowhere on their website (that I can see). I asked if this was a liability issue. She didn't know the reason, it's just policy. I asked her why it mattered. If I said I hit my head with a hammer, they would have booked an appointment right away, right? No answer. I asked her what I'm supposed to do. She said there may be other clinics that take car wreck patients. I reiterated that I don't know if my headaches are related to my car wreck. BOTTOM LINE: IF THEY ASK YOU IF YOU'VE BEEN IN A CAR WRECK...LIE. Unbelievable.

ALL of the staff were friendly & helpful. I saw Chelsea Shepherd, who was very friendly and knowledgeable regarding my spinal issue. She went out of her way to make sure all appointments were scheduled together since I live 2 hours away. Her nurse was very friendly and helpful as well.

Dr Kahn and his staff have been wonderful to work with. From preop, through surgery, and postoperative. Communication has been very clear and straightforward and his staff has been great in handling appointments and future activities I was so impressed with how smoothly the operation went, and that I was discharged from the hospital a mere 24 hours after surgery was complete Also, the sutures are very straight, clean, and tight which should not leave much of a scar. Overall, the 5 out of 5 rating is well deserved

This was the first time ever being at this facility. My dad was having a cervical procedure due to his C4/C5 was sitting on a nerve in his neck; and the care he received was outstanding. From checking in at the desk to going back to the pre-op area, everything was amazing. The staff was friendly, welcoming and compassionate. We were very scared and nervous about the procedure and everyone was very patient with us and explained everything so detailed that we understood everything. We cried and we put everything in Dr. Labagnara and GOD’s hands. When Dr. Labagnara came in to see us before surgery he presented with his white coat on, he shook our hands and I had faith and knew he was gone do a great job. He did an awesome job and had made some immediate changes for my dad. My dad went into the facility in a wheelchair and after surgery he was able to walk out the facility on his own. Each day my dad has been getting better and better. The surgery was for sure what he needed to bring him back to himself and back to normal. We greatly appreciate Dr. Labagnara and his amazing staff.
