Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Tonsillectomy / AdenoidectomyThe tonsils and sometimes the adenoids are removed for repeated infections or sleep-disordered breathing. Recovery is notably harder for adults than children, with significant throat pain for a week or more and a real emphasis on staying hydrated.Ear Tube PlacementTiny tubes are placed through the eardrum to drain fluid and ventilate the middle ear, most often for children with recurrent ear infections. The procedure takes about 10 minutes and the tubes usually fall out on their own within a year.Sinus Surgery (FESS)A camera and instruments passed through the nostrils open blocked sinus drainage pathways, with no external incisions. Considered for chronic sinusitis that has not improved with medication. Congestion often worsens briefly before it improves.SeptoplastyThe wall of cartilage and bone between the nostrils is straightened to improve airflow through a blocked side. It addresses breathing rather than external appearance, though it is sometimes combined with cosmetic reshaping.Turbinate ReductionSwollen tissue inside the nose is shrunk to improve airflow, frequently at the same time as septoplasty. Often the difference between a nose that is structurally straight and one that actually feels open.LaryngoscopyA scope examines the voice box and vocal cords, used for persistent hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, or throat pain that has not resolved. Small lesions can sometimes be biopsied or removed during the same procedure.

Procedure list is based on CMS-reported specialty designations. Contact the facility to confirm specific procedures offered.

My experience with Dr. Staffel and the staff at Shea Clinic was excellent. I had surgery on my septum and the results are amazing. I can finally breathe! Dr. Staffel informed me every step of the way what the plan was and what to expect. The staff are always professional and accommodated my appointment scheduling easily. My life is better for going to see the good people who work here.

If you are experiencing any type of vertigo, I highly recommend Shea Clinic in Memphis. They can determine if it's menieres disease. If so they have a procedure to address it. I was having vertigo so bad at least three times a week. I went to Shea and had the treatment performed. My vertigo was completely gone after the procedure. I highly recommend Shea. The entire staff was wonderful. Be prepared to be there about three hours. They are thorough, with tests to determined what problems you may have. Please, if you suffer with vertigo, I beg you, go to Shea.

Dr. Paul Shea performed an extensive surgery for me and removed a large cholesteatoma from my right middle ear and surrounding area and performed reconstruction of the eardrum. His surgical skills are amazing, and equally important, his people skills are top notch. He is patient, kind, and humble. He communicates very well and explains diagnoses, treatment options, pros and cons for different treatment options, possible difficulties, and hoped-for outcomes. I traveled four hours to reach Shea Clinic, and I am very glad I did. I highly recommend Dr. Shea and Shea Clinic.

Dr. Ahmed and Ashley are outstanding! Dr. Ahmed combines humor with professionalism, making every visit comfortable and stress-free. He truly listens, explains issues clearly, and provides a well-thought-out treatment plan. His approachable nature makes it easy to discuss concerns, and you leave feeling confident in your care. Ashley and the entire staff were welcoming and attentive, and the audiology department was excellent as well. I highly recommend Dr. Ahmed—you won’t be disappointed!
