Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

From check in to check out, I received excellent care and service. The staff were all kind and helpful and seemed to genuinely enjoy their job. I was originally scheduled for another location for my procedure. I was not excited about the procedure location being moved. In the end, it worked out well and I am pleased with every aspect of the treatment I received.

UPDATE...9.17.25 No update 9.27.25 still no update..not one called back. I will say the injection she had has helped tremendously but dont want insurance paying for one that wasnt done. 9.15.25 My daughter had a Pars injection, xray guided, in her back,...literally 5 Minutes. We were charged 12,000 dollars for that 5 min visit. Then I find out that 4000 of it was for a 2nd injection the same day..... SHE ONLY HAD ONE ON ONE SIDE!!!!!! ISNT THAT INSURANCE FRAUD? I called and so far I haven't found where the buck stops.

The staff was great, however, the billing dept is an absolute nightmare! My insurance said I had zero out of pocket cost for a hospital stay almost a year ago. They also tried to bill me for an extra day! I call them every time they send a bill and I still have yet to speak to someone I can understand when they speak. Then they tried to tell me that my insurance company said my member number is incorrect which they did not do! I will go to Williamson med center in the future, if needed.

I recently had an unfortunate experience at Middle Tennessee Ambulatory Surgery Center, and I feel compelled to share my feedback. My visit was for a routine tubal ligation surgery, which was a significant event for me. Unfortunately, during the procedure, an additional, unauthorized surgery to remove signs of endometriosis was performed. To make matters worse, I was not informed about this extra procedure beforehand, nor did I provide consent. This lack of transparency and communication was deeply concerning. It left me feeling helpless and confused about the medical decisions made without my consent. To add to my frustration, I have now received an unexpected bill from the surgery center, totaling $2800, due to the endometriosis removal. This unforeseen financial burden is not what I had anticipated when I decided to go through with the surgery. I believe in transparency and informed consent, especially when it comes to medical procedures. My experience fell short of these principles, and I hope that my feedback can help highlight the importance of clear communication and respect for patients' choices.

I have nothing but good things to say about this surgery center! I had my first surgery there and was obviously very nervous about it. Every nurse, anesthesiologist, and doctor had the best bedside manner; they helped calm me down without being condescending. The front desk staff was also wonderful to work with and very friendly. They really went above and beyond my expectations!
