I elected to have a procedure on my back without sedation. Previous test blocks had gone fine with zero issues so I thought I would be fine. The procedure was much more intense and painful than I anticipated and I had a bit of an anxiety attack on the table. The nurses at HDSS and Dr. Dechter were amazing throughout. They checked in with me, encouraged me, at one point almost stopped the procedure due to concern for my wellbeing. I did not get the name of the RN who held my hand and got me a warm blanket but she was an absolute gem. She reassured me that my reaction was normal and nothing to be embarrassed about. This team was amazing and helped me get through a very intense experience Thank you!!!!

Dr. Dechter, Gwen and the others at High Desert Surgery Center were amazing. They explained everything and I felt very comfortable. Dr. Dechter did such an great job with my back injection. I really didn't feel any pain at all. I highly recommend the doctor, assistant, staff and surgery center. Thank you all so much! ๐

I had injections done today. I had been told at my office visit that I could be given something to relax me and it was even on the pre-op instructions they sent home with me. When I got there today they put me in a room and took my blood pressure and I asked about it and they said they didn't have any record of that. I know since someone had dropped the ball and they hadn't planned for it they didn't want to take the time so they just hurried me in and told me it wouldn't hurt and I would be fine and tried to deflect the blame on me saying it was my fault, that I should have asked when they scheduled the time. I had already discussed it in the office and let them know I had had a couple of bad experiences and I needed it. It is on my written papers. If they HAD to know at scheduling time and didn't see it they should have asked me. They do this everyday, I do not. Anxiety is not something a person has control over just because uou tell me it won't hurt, you'll be fine. I am a nurse and I have anxiety and I know how it works. While I really like Dr. Dechter and he was quick and less painful than any of the ones I've had before that didn't cure me of anxiety. They retook my bp and it was 30 points higher than when I walked in but they said ok, you can go. She did ask me if I wanted to sit longer but said I could go and I just wanted out of there by then because I could feel it coming on. By the time I got to the doors I had the horrible chest pain and was having trouble breathing by the time I got to the car. My son was with me and I knew it was just a panic attack but I am helpless to stop them and was more afraid of that than anything, hence my request for the meds. What could have been the best experience I've had with an injection turned into an awful one because I was totally dismissed when I had asked for the medication. Tell your nurses to think about that and not to deflect the blame onto the patient next time you have a patient with anxiety requesting the meds that were offered to me! I know it wasn't a huge procedure and I knew I would be ok after but that doesn't stop the anxiety, I don't have the ability to do that. I sure wish I did. I really like doctor and everyone in the office has always been great. My review is purely of the surgery center and the way I was dismissed.
