Procedures Performed

Common outpatient procedures performed at this ambulatory surgery center, based on reported specialties.

Cataract SurgeryThe clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with a clear artificial one. It is one of the most common outpatient procedures performed in the country, usually takes under 30 minutes per eye, and is done under light sedation with numbing drops rather than general anesthesia.LASIK / Refractive SurgeryA laser reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, reducing dependence on glasses or contacts. The procedure itself takes minutes per eye. Vision is often noticeably better within a day, though it can take several weeks to fully stabilize.Glaucoma SurgeryCreates a new drainage path for fluid inside the eye to lower internal pressure. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve silently, so the goal is preventing further vision loss rather than restoring vision already lost. Several minimally invasive options are now performed in outpatient settings.Retinal SurgeryRepairs the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, most often for a detached or torn retina, or for bleeding related to diabetes. Timing matters — a detaching retina is treated urgently because delay increases the risk of permanent vision loss.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)Removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids. When drooping upper lids block part of the visual field, the procedure is functional rather than cosmetic and is often covered by insurance if visual field testing documents the obstruction.Corneal TransplantReplaces damaged or clouded corneal tissue with donor tissue. Modern techniques often replace only the affected layer rather than the full thickness, which shortens recovery. Vision improves gradually over months, and stitches may stay in place for a year or longer.

Everyone was very nice and helpful. My experience at PCLI was great. I was a bit nervous when I got there but the kindness of all the staff put me at ease. This was my first cataract surgery and I am looking forward to getting my other eye done.

And all my interactions including this time to deal with secondary cataracts, all of the staff were courteous and friendly and competent. This includes the people on the front desk this and the optometrist staff that initially evaluated me. The day of the yag treatment was similarly done in a caring and professional way. This was true even in 2019 when I initially had my cataracts removed and replaced with the lenses. Thank you

The treatment and results of my surgery surpassed every one of my expectations. The surgery was absolutely painless. 24 hours after the surgery, my vision was dramatically improved to the point where I was able to read lines on the eye chart that I hadn’t seen in years. I am actually looking forward to my visit next week to fix the cataract in my left eye. I can’t wait!

Impressed with the entire operation ! The Kennewick facility is very comfortable well laid out and easy to find. I found the staff to be efficient, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I had cataract surgery on both eyes , One week apart. I'm very happy with the Odyssey IOL multifocal lens 20-20 vision and no readers for even very small print! WOW
